Live long enough to become the Villain is the subject of this quote of the week.
Since we all love a good villain quote, here’s one from the Dark Knight in 2008. Me, personally, I enjoy the hero quotes.

This quote is specifically from BatMan, Dark Knight and uttered by Harvey Dent, played by Aaron Eckhart.
The actual quote is:
“You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.”
Bruce Wayne and Harvey Dent are having a conversation about Batman. Is he a vigilante or a citizen trying to help the city. During the conversation is when Harvey Dent says ” you either die a hero or you live long enough to be the villain.”
It is often misquoted or shortened “live long enough to become the Villain”.
This particular BatMan is quite dark and sinister. A far cry from the BatMan series and the “Pow” “Zap” and “Bam!” from the comics or the TV series of my youth. Although, I did always enjoy Same Bat Time Same Bat Channel.
Discussion of the Quote – Live Long Enough to Become the Villain
As is often the case in movie quotes, there is more here than first meets the ear. Is Harvey Dent trying to say, that the end goal is to become a villain? I don’t think so. I think he is trying to say thats its important to live a life that matters. It’s Ok, if you end up the villain but you can’t let the bad guys win.
I’d love to see someone write an essay on this quote and expand the their thoughts.
